The first half of the College Football Parlay Picks takes us to the lovely Sun Life Stadium in Miami, FL, where old Big East rivals will do battle with a potential ACC Coastal title on the line. If Virginia Tech wins this game, they’ll play for an ACC Championship in two weeks. Can the Hurricanes stop the Hokie express?
It won’t be easy, as since losing their opening two games, Virginia Tech is 8-0, and a favorite of bettors, going 7-1 over that stretch. The difference in their play is in the development of quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
The senior is finally coming through on his immense talent, as on the season, he’s closing in on just under 2,000 passing and 18 touchdowns, while throwing just four interceptions.
Of course, it’s the opposite story on the Miami sideline, as for the third game in a row, true freshman Stephen Morris will get the start for the injured Jacory Harris.
Morris isn’t quite as dynamic with the ball as Harris is, but to his credit, not nearly as mistake prone. He’s thrown just one interception in his two starts, while completing 28 of 48 passes.
And what this half of the College Football Parlay Picks comes down to is simple. Tech has the senior quarterback, Miami the freshman quarterback. Look for Taylor and his experience to be the difference, while the Hokies defense should be able to hold Morris in check. They rank 20th in the country, allowing just 19.8 points per game.
That defense will slow down Morris just enough to secure the win.

The second half of the College Football Parlay Picks takes us to College Park, MD, where the surprising Maryland Terrapins host the Florida State Seminoles. Much like in the first matchup, a win by either team gives them the edge in the race for the ACC Atlantic title.
For Maryland it’s been a topsy-turvy year, but it’s important to note that is a team that’s 5-0 at home, and 4-1 against the spread at Byrd Stadium. However, they haven’t faced a squad nearly as skilled as the Seminoles.
Still, the one advantage that the Terrapins have is that they’re hardly getting Florida State at 100 percent. Quarterback Christian Ponder missed last weekend’s game with an elbow injury, and it’s unsure if he’ll play.
Even if Ponder does suit up, it might not be enough, as Florida State’s run game has struggled of late. Other than backup quarterback E.J. Manuel, not a single Seminole had more than 18 yards rushing last week.
Which is why in the second half of the College Football Parlay Picks, Maryland is the play to make.
This is a team that is phenomenal against the run, as they rank No. 34 in the country, allowing just 131 yards per game. With this matchup expected to be low scoring, the Terrapins should force Florida State to become one-dimensional in the passing game, something they’re just not suited for with their injuries.
